What’s On Your Mind? Let’s Start the Conversation About Youth Mental Health

Growing up comes with a lot to navigate. Between school, friendships, family expectations and social media, young people can have plenty on their minds. But finding the words to talk about what they’re feeling—or knowing who to turn to—isn’t always easy.

That’s where What’s On Your Mind? comes in.

This free youth mental health education program brings honest, relatable conversations to schools and organizations in El Paso and Teller counties. Grounded in lived experience, it meets young people where they are and gives them an opportunity to talk about stress, connection and getting support. Presented by Diversus Health, Suicide Prevention Partnership, Peak View Behavioral Health and NAMI Colorado Springs, the program encourages young people to ask questions, learn coping strategies and recognize that they don’t have to work through every challenge on their own.

Real Stories, Everyday Challenges

Sometimes, hearing from someone who has been through a difficult time can make a conversation feel more approachable. What’s On Your Mind? includes a young adult’s personal story of working through struggles, alongside practical information students can use in their own lives.

Speakers engage students in conversations about:

  • What makes growing up today challenging.
  • Positive ways to cope when life feels stressful.
  • Why connections with peers and trusted adults matter.
  • How to recognize when they need more support.
  • Where to turn for help.

The presentation gives students a chance to think about their own experiences, hear another person’s perspective and learn about the support available to them.

Knowing Who to Turn To

When something is weighing on you, starting a conversation can be hard. You might wonder what to say, whether someone will understand or if your concern is “serious enough” to bring up.

What’s On Your Mind? encourages young people to think about the people they trust and how to reach out when they need support. They don’t need to have everything figured out before asking for help.

Students also receive an up-to-date list of local and online resources, so they leave with information they can return to or share with someone else.

It’s Easy to Bring this Program to Your School or Organization

The program is designed to fit into a typical class period, with presentations available in a 45-minute or one-hour format. The team comes to your school or organization, and presentations can be tailored to your group.

For educators and organizations serving young people, it’s a simple, no-cost way to make room for a conversation that matters—and give students something to carry with them after it ends.
